Last October 20th, I celebrated my 24th birthday. Yeah, I am old NYAHAHAHAHA.  It was nothing special really, like it has been a custom (for me, that is) not to make big preparations.  Well, the entire city is celebrating it for me. JOKE! It just so happen that my birthday follows the annual MassKara Festival so people are either busy with it or either busy with it NYAHAHA ☺  Adding to that, a lot of relatives, including my immediate family members were also born on the said month so that means everyone's stomach is pretty full come the 20th.

MassKara Festival

MassKara Logo
If you are from Bacolod City and a true Bacoleño [like me] (feminine: Bacoleña) or let us just use the non-gender specific Hiligaynon term, Bacolodnon (English: Bacolodian), you know what to expect come the month of October -The MassKara Festival.  Being celebrated on the said month usually on the third weekend which is near the city's Charter Inauguration Anniversary -October 19th.  The festival started in 1980 amidst of crisis when the sugar prices, which was the fuel of the city, hit all-time low. Contradictorily, the city's artists, local government and civic groups held a festival of smiles since the city is also known as the City of Smiles. They thought of this as a vehicle for the locals to ride out of the gloomy shadow that has befallen -another classic example of Filipino resilience ☺

Work Is Also Fun

When I was still with the company I have previously worked for, I could always hear one particular supervisor uttering (I guess that'd be his maxim) that the key to not growing bored of your current work is by thinking that you do not have one. Well in my case, I guess I did not listen that's why I resigned ☺  Nonetheless, I have work now and shall we say, I like it (seriously, who would prefer not to have a job in these tough times?). Bottom line here, everyone knows Work is Business but hey, it can also be FUN!

Confession: I am actually having a writer's lag and I don't know what topic to write as of the moment. I decided to play around with some pictures I took with my new colleagues and ended up making a slideshow. So if you are curious about how do I look or what was the finish product, scroll down a bit and play the embedded video ☺
